Finally Google has announced the official name of Android N , it's called Android Nougat . Android 7.0 

Continuing tradition of naming android software after sweet treats, Google has revealed that its newest mobile OS will be called Android Nougat. The name of newest OS was announced seven weeks after Google sought suggestion during its annual conference for software engineers . 

Google’s Android Usage Page reveals just 10% of current Android handsets are running Android Marshmallow — that is an exceptionally low figure for a platform as big as Android. 

Successive developer previews of Android Nougat have been available to download since March, with a final release expected later this year. 

There’s been a lot of beta versions of Android N, but when the actual, gold-standard version will arrive is still a bit vague. 

Android Nougat Update : When Will YOUR Phone Get It?

As of right now, this is the Android N update schedule for Nexus:

• March: Android N developer preview 1 (alpha)
• April: Android N developer preview 2 (beta)
• May: Android N developer preview 3 (beta)
• June: Android N developer preview 4 (with final APIs and SDK)
• July: Android N developer preview 5 (near-final build)
• August/September: Final Android 7.0 AOSP build

Android Nougat: 8 New Features in Google's Latest Mobile OS 

1. Android Nougat will let users run apps without actually installing them on a device. This feature will be compatible with devices running Jelly Bean and above.

2. Adopting a new security approach, Android Nougat will let you encrypt specific files rather than the whole phone.

3.It will offer a split-screen feature so users can toggle between apps more easily.

4. Android Nougat will enable users to reply directly from notifications, something already available on Android Wear - Google's software for wearable devices.

5. Launcher shortcuts will let users create custom shortcuts to specific features in certain applications. This could, for example, be a shortcut to message a particular contact or to access a specific folder in an email inbox.

6. Google promises improved battery saving and better graphic performance in Android Nougat. There will be options for limiting data use by reducing the quality of images and video streams, which could prove handy for users with limited data packages.

7. Android Nougat will have support for Emoji Unicode 9, bringing users new emoji with more human-like faces and a variety of skin-tones.

8. Google's virtual reality platform called Daydream is included in Android Nougat. It is meant to improve upon the experience of Cardboard, which Google launched two years ago.
